it started out as a side gig with some prestige then my full-time job fell through so now i'm depending on this side thing. it's pretty depressing.

Why would you communicate your dissatisfaction and give them cause to get rid of you? Better to look on your own and leverage any new found opportunities as they come a long. Its not 2006 anymore.

Same question... Lower pay than your usual? Doesn't seem one ought to regret leaving a job one wasn't so into in the first place.

Nope, I made that move one and in 3 months I was making more than I was at the old job. And with another turn of luck, I'm back at the first company making almost 180% of what I was making when I left the first time.
